Mid-valley natives join medical clinic
Two mid-valley natives, a doctor and a family nurse, have joined the staff at Albany's Geary Street Clinic, Samaritan Health Services announced.
They are family practice physician Nancy Dougherty, MD, and Somphone Beasley, FNP, and both are accepting new patients.
Dougherty grew up on a family farm in Scio and has returned to her hometown after practicing in Portland for 17 years.
She earned a bachelor's degree in biochemistry from the University of California-Davis, and a medical degree from Glasgow University in Scotland.

Beasley is an Albany native. She earned a bachelor's degree in nursing from Linfield College-Good Samaritan and a master's degree in nursing from Gonzaga.
As a family nurse practitioner, Beasley provides care to the entire family and serves as a primary care provider. She can be reached at 812-5620.
Daffodil bulbs on sale Saturday
The Oregon Daffodil Society will be selling daffodil bulbs Saturday, Aug. 30, at the Albany Farmers' Market.
Buy the bulbs now, plant them and then show them at the daffodil show on March 27, 2009, at the Heritage Mall in Albany.

Optimist club to hold informational meeting
The Lebanon Optimist Club will hold a two-hour meeting to share what members do for the community. Those interested in being members should attend.
The group will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30, at the Boys & Girls Club of Lebanon, 305 S. Fifth St.

Scrapbookers to aid research for cancer
Judy's Magic Memories of Corvallis is inviting the public to participate in Scrap Pink weekend Sept. 26-28.
Scrap Pink weekend is a fundraising event created by Scrapbooks etc. to benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
Scrapbookers can pay $15 to attend the scrapbooking sessions, $10 of which will be donated to the cause.
