People arrested are innocent unless proved otherwise in court. Initial charges often change as a case progresses.
ALBANY POLICE
Chasing their car - The owner of a 1995 Honda Accord heard his car being stolen at about 4 a.m. today from the 1600 block of Tudor Way S.E.
The owner and his brother followed the thieves in another vehicle and when they ran a stop sign, police pulled them over, not realizing the men were trying to catch up with their own car that had just been stolen.
The stolen Honda was found unoccupied at 6:35 this morning in the 1100 block of 29th Avenue S.E.
Trespass - Police were called at 1:18 p.m. Monday to a mobile home park on Century Drive N.E., where a man was reportedly sitting in a vehicle that wasn't his and refusing to leave.
The man resisted officers' efforts to get him out of the vehicle and he was forcibly taken down to the ground. The man sustained cuts on his face from hitting the gravel. He was treated at the Albany hospital and then book at the Linn County Jail on charges of resisting arrest and criminal trespass.
Hammer call - Officers responded to a disturbance at 6:47 p.m. Sunday in the 1900 block of 15th Avenue S.W. It was reported that a woman was trying to hit a man with a hammer. Officers caught up with the woman outside and arrested her for harassment and menacing.
LINN COUNTY SHERIFF
Stolen motor - A grey 2000 Yamaha 8 hp outboard motor was reported stolen Tuesday from the 31000 block of S. Fifth St., Lebanon.
Theft of tools - A deputy took a report Tuesday of tools and machinery stolen from the 38000 block of Morningstar Road, Millersburg. Stolen items included a John Deere battery charger, Stihl 24-inch chainsaw, Milwaukie sawzall, Nikon Coolpix 775 digital camera, Ryobi chopsaw, Miller wire welder and tank, and Honda power pressure washer. Total value: $2,660.
Stolen scooter - A maroon Pace Saver motorized scooter worth $1,900 was reported stolen Tuesday from the 2100 block of Main Street in Lyons.
Oregon state police
Elk shot - A trooper contacted a Lebanon man last Thursday near milepost 20 on Quartzville Road. The man had illegally shot a six-by-six bull elk, according to a state police report. The man was cited at the Linn County Jail for felon in possession of a firearm and the hunting violation. The elk and rifle were seized.
Collision - There was a two-vehicle collision at 6:22 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of highways 20 and 226.
According to state police, driver Matthew T. Duerr, 19, of Lebanon was turning from Highway 20 onto Highway 226 when he collided with a Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Reynee Mabe, 33, of Lebanon. She was taken to the Albany hospital with minor injuries. Duerr was cited for careless driving.
Crash - Troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash at 4:20 p.m. Sunday on Highway 226 at milepost 14. According to state police, Ashby Leroy Getz of Scio was driving a 2004 Toyota Tundra when he drifted off the road, went airborne and crashed through a fence. Getz was taken to the Albany hospital with minor injuries. He was cited for careless driving.
ALBANY FIRE
Garage fire - Firefighters went to 1520 Howard Drive S.E. at 11:47 a.m. Monday for a garage fire. According to the fire department, a carseat that had been removed from a vehicle caught on fire and burned some of the garage siding. The fire was caused by a discarded cigarette and neighbors extinguished the flames with a hose. The fire caused about $500 in damage.
