Registration set for youth swim lessons
The Albany Community Pool will hold registration for its last three morning sessions of youth swimming at 8:30 a.m. Friday.
The sessions will be July 16-27, July 30-Aug. 10 and Aug. 13-24. Classes run from 8:45 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday. The cost is $38 for 10 half-hour classes.
Registration for the final evening session will be at 5:30 p.m. July 12. That sessions run July 31 through Aug. 23, with classes from 6 to 8:05 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. The cost is $30.50 for 8 half-hour lessons.

Sheep Thrillz event will include fiber festival
The annual Sheep Thrillz Sheep Dog Trials will be Friday through Sunday at Wolston Farm just east of Scio. Top dogs in the Pacific Northwest will compete on Friday and Saturday, and on Sunday the younger dogs will have a turn.
The trials start at 9 a.m. each day and run until about 5 p.m. There will be lunch-time herding demonstrations on Saturday and Sunday.
New this year is the Sheep Thrillz Fiber Festival that will include spinning and wool-dyeing demonstrations as well as vendor booths offering wool and wool-related products. Drinks and snacks will be available for sale.
Shade tents are provided for spectators. Those attending should bring a lawn chair. Admission is $5 per car.
To get to the trial field, take Highway 226 east of Scio 1 mile to Franklin Butte Road. Turn south on Franklin Butte for about 300 yards; the trial field is on the right, watch for signs.
