Cancer center gets gift of music library

Thanks to a gift from the nonprofit organization Musicians On Call, patients at Samaritan Regional Cancer Center in Corvallis now have access to a large library of music. Musicians On Call delivered 170 CDs and three CD players in mid-January. The CDs cover a wide range of musical genres for adults and children.

Cancer patients often undergo lengthy treatments and must spend many hours at SRCC. Music is an effective tool to not only help them pass the time, but to cope with pain and discomfort and recover more quickly.

Musicians On Call is a national organization that works to bring live and recorded music to patients in health care facilities. They have reached 95,000 patients across the country with live performances, and thousands more with music libraries.

SRCC is the first facility in Oregon to receive a music library gift from Musicians On Call. The regional cancer center serves patients from across the mid-Willamette Valley.
