Aug. 14, 1947 - Sept. 9, 2008

Greg Gourley passed into eternity Tuesday at Evergreen Hospital in Kirkland, Wash.

Greg was an enigma to some yet a grand man to others. Greg graduated from Lebanon High School and obtained a degree in political science from Willamette University.

For years Greg worked helping immigrants become legalized citizens of America while at other times performed necessary humanitarian efforts in the remote jungles of Sierra Leone during their time of need. A multitude of people from around the world owe their lives and livelihoods to Greg.

Greg served as a captain in the United States Air Force between Jan. 15, 1969, and Jan. 1, 1975. Greg sold train whistles at community fundraisers throughout the Puget Sound area , yet lived in Section 8 housing, on a fixed income. He nevertheless provided for his fellow man whenever he could. On several occasions Greg was seen on public television in Seattle, speaking about his volunteer work and interaction with President Kabbah in Sierra Leone, as well as other important issues.

Recently he worked tirelessly as a volunteer with the Fallen Heroes Project, honoring our uniformed servicemen.

Greg is survived by his mother, Jean; brothers Corkey, Jack and Brent; and sisters Sharilyn Hellinge and Dama Curtright.

"We will all miss Greg."

A remembrance service will be at 4 p.m. Sept. 27 at the Chapel of the Resurrection, Cedar Park Assembly of God, Bothell Campus, Bothell, Wash. Any donations can be made to North Shore Senior Center.
