Dennis Dean Umland, 52, of Albany passed away Sunday at Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital.

He was born in Sherman, Texas, to Gordon and Patricia (Robison) Umland.

Dennis lived in several places while growing up. After graduating from high school, he served in the Air Force for four years. After his honorable discharge he moved to Lebanon. He later settled in Albany, where he lived for many years.

Dennis loved music. He worked as a karaoke jockey throughout the valley and at one time had his own band.

He enjoyed spending time on his computer and was very proficient at creating his own programs.

Dennis is survived by his father, Gordon Umland of Yuma, Ariz.; his mother Patricia Edwards of Corvallis; sisters Debora Mulrooney of Albany, Angela Stricklen of Albany, Rebecca Roach of Philomath and Eva Wienteer of Lebanon; step-brothers Grey, Jeff, and Clayton Anderson, all of Lebanon, and Robert Anderson of California; and numerous nieces and nephews.

At his request there will be a private family service.
