May 26, 1943 - Sept. 4, 2008

Larry Walter Henderson, 65, of Albany passed away peacefully Thursday, surrounded by his family.

He was born in St. Maries, Idaho, to Gordon and Lorraine (Emerson) Henderson.

Larry attended schools in Lebanon, and in elementary school he met the love of his life, Joy A. Owens. They married in 1963. They spent most of their lives in the Albany area, living in Arizona in the early 70s for a short time, and in Bend in the mid-70s.

Larry was a very loving and devoted husband and father. He would do anything for his family. He faithfully attended to his wife, Joy, who has had multiple sclerosis for over 40 years. The strong love and devotion he felt for Joy was truly amazing.

Larry always provided well for his family. He worked as a delivery man for Meadow Gold in the 60s, Ebherhard's Dairy as a delivery man while living in Bend, and as a truck driver for several years at Deluxe Ice Cream in Salem until his early retirement due to diabetes in 1999.

Larry was known for always helping anyone who needed it. He was consistently tinkering on automobiles, working in his yard, and after retirement, repairing lawnmowers and small engines. People in North Albany referred to him as the "lawnmower man".

When not tinkering around, Larry spent a great deal of time with his wife, Joy. He also enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing with his son Kevin and watching or listening to his grandsons' sporting events.

Larry will be missed greatly by his wife, Joy; son Kevin Walter Henderson; daughter Michele Boone; son-in-law Mike Boone; grandchildren Kaylnn Ackert, Ryan Boone and Nathan Boone; great-grandchild Hailey Cate; brothers Bud and Terry Henderson; mother-in-law Irene Owens; and sister-in-law Kim Fryman and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents Gordon and Lorraine Henderson; sister Barbara Turner; brothers Roger "Podge" and Gordon Kenneth "Junie" Henderson.

A viewing will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Fisher Funeral Home. A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens.

Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (Oregon Chapter), sent in care of Fisher Funeral Home, 306 Washington St. S.W., Albany, OR 97321 (www.fisherfuneralhome.com).
