May 6, 1929 - May 28, 2008
Albany resident Doris Ann Taisey, 79, a beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away May 28 from complications during a surgical procedure.
She was born in Stillwater, Minn., and then moved to Idaho where she was raised. She met her high school sweetheart, Jack Taisey, in St. Maries, Idaho, and they were married July 8, 1950. They moved to Oregon in 1955 and had three daughters: Susan Davis, Tamara Johnson and Michelle Nelson.
She loved her children and grandchildren more than anything. She had an annual Christmas cookie day with her children and grandkids for the last 30 years. She was an avid gardener and loved to sew and can fruits and vegetables.
She retired from the Albany School District in 1987. After retiring, she and her husband, Jack, traveled many places, including Indonesia, Scotland, Ireland and Hawaii, to name a few. They had been spending winters in Yuma for the last 15 years.
Doris is survived by her husband of 58 years, Jack; daughters Tamara Johnson and husband Les of Eugene, and Michelle Nelson and husband Todd of Portland; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Doris and Jack's daughter Susan Davis passed away in 2004.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home is handling arrangements (www.aasum-dufour.com).
