Cody Wade Bruce, 40, of Lebanon was taken from us unexpectedly Thursday in Salem.

Cody was born in Oregon City to Donna Lee and Harry Bruce, and was a member of the Osage Nation. He graduated from North Salem High, and attended ITT Tech and Linn-Benton Community College, where he studied art and graphic design.

Early in Cody's career, he became a short-order cook for the family restaurant and later became a press operator.

He enjoyed snowboarding, skateboarding and fishing, and was an avid fan of heavy metal music. Cody touched the lives of many people with his charismatic smile, generosity and sense of humor.

Cody is survived by his mother, Donna Lee of Lebanon; grandmother Rose Gephardt, sister Kim Cardona and brother Darwin McCoy, all of Salem; and brother Carson Brown of Hillsboro.

He is preceded in death by his stepfather, Lawrence Lee; grandfather Fred Gephardt; and sister Carla Brown.

Public viewing will be from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday at Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service. A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at City View Cemetery, followed by a potluck reception at Bush's Pasture Park immediately after the ceremony.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to the Union Gospel Mission of Salem, (503) 362-3983.

Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service is handling arrangements.
