Zoia Stephens Bader, 87, of Albany died Thursday.
She was born in Sayre, Okla., to Robert M. and Ella Belle (Kimberlin) Stephens. She was one of six children with four brothers and one sister.
At the age of 8, she moved to Littlefield, Texas, where she finished high school and attended Wayland Baptist College in Plainview, Texas.
On April 5, 1942, she was married to Golden Gray Bader of the U.S. Air Force, who was born in Kanorado, Kan. To this union two children were born, Pamela Sue Bader Weygandt of Albany and Michael Gray Bader of Shawnee, Kan.
After World War II ended, the family moved to Denver, Colo.
Zoia moved to Portland in 1964 and worked as a typesetter. After retiring in 1983, she moved to Albany.
She was a grandmother to six: Christy, Kevin, Kent and Cory Beauchamp, Kimberly Weyegandt Brehm, and Rebecca Weygandt Boren. She had four great-grandchildren: Taylor and Ava Brehm of Carson City, Nev., and Kylie and Garrett Boren of Albany.
She accepted Christ as her Savior at age 12 and was a member of Willamette Community Church in Albany.
At her request, a private family gathering will take place in her memory.
Twin Oaks Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
