March 13, 1929 - May 25, 2009

Delmer O. Falk, 80, passed away May 25 at his home near Burns with loved ones at his side.

He was born to Louis R. Sr. and Anna Drone Falk at the family home near Halsey. He attended grade school at a small country school near the family home. After grade school he began work on the farm and at a lumber mill in the Brownsville area until he went into the U.S. Army in the late '40s and early '50s. It was there that he got his high school education.

After he returned home from the Army he drove a log truck and also went to work for Fisher Implement Company in Halsey. Finally he went to work for his brother in the Burns area for a couple of years, and then moved back to the Willamette Valley in the Junction City area to begin working in the logging industry. He worked for Pete Austin and Walt Barrows before working for Chester Bradley. From there, he and his wife moved to the Sisters area in 1969. In 1971 he started working for Babler Brothers in construction out of the Redmond area. He quit that job in 1983 and went to Alaska, where he spent nine years working on construction during the summer months. He worked with heavy equipment building roads on the pipeline, at mining and airports as far north as Barrow, Alaska. He retired in 1992 to his home in the Sisters area. In 2007 he moved back to Harney County, near Burns.

His hobbies were putting together flyable airplane kits, building motorized toys for his great-granddaughter, Shannon, who he helped raise for 13 years, tinkering with building a wood splitter, his flatbed trailer, small farm equipment, camping, hunting, and fishing with his wife of over 50 years.

Delmer is survived by his wife, Audrey Hill Falk; granddaughter Shannon Quillin; stepson Harold Curtis; stepgrandchildren; sister Betty Alexander of St. David, Ariz.; sister-in-law Judy Falk of Halsey; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his three brothers, Charlie D., Louis R. Jr. and Stanley M. Falk; and four sisters, Ava Thompson, Edna Porter, Luella Starnes and Ardella Reese.

At Delmer's request there will be no service.
