Dennis Valentine, 63, of Sweet Home died Dec. 18, 2007, at home after fighting aggressive bladder cancer for a little more than a year.

Dennis was the son of Gerald and Eva Valentine of Sweet Home. He was born in Salem and moved to Sweet Home in the fifth grade in 1956. He was one of six children.

Dennis enjoyed hunting, fishing, mushrooming out in the woods, gardening, traveling and being with his family

He was preceded in death by father Gerald in 1997; mother Eva in June 2005; brother Arnold in 1957; sister Joyce in 1995; and sister Janice in January 2005. He is survived by wife Delores Valentine; sons Shane, 26, Jeff, 42, Kelly, 40, Corey, 37, and Johnny, 35; sisters Vicky of Lebanon and Lynda of Eugene; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandsons.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Veteran's Club in Sweet Home.
