Lloyd Ray Zehr

Lloyd Ray Zehr, 81, died Monday in Bend.

He was born in Albany to Milton and Hildreth (Roth) Zehr. He was a commercial builder and inspector for the city of Corvallis. In his early years, he farmed in the Albany area.

He married Jean Thurston Sprague on Oct. 8, 1988, at Cape Perpetua on the Oregon coast.

He was a member of the United Methodist Men's Breakfast Group and Wednesday Workers, and had volunteered at the High Desert Museum in Bend since 1982. He enjoyed his family and friends, as well as fishing and working with wood.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Ferne (Yoder) Zehr.

Survivors include wife Jean Zehr of Bend; sons David of Jefferson and Timothy of Kona, Hawaii; stepsons Stephen Sprague of Bend, Robert Sprague of Albany and John Sprague of Frisco, Texas; daughters Deborah Coates of Brush Prairie, Wash., Colleen Nevin of Kodiak, Alaska, Christine Thomson of Vancouver, B.C., Canada, Martha Welter of Salem and Molly Fallon of Tigard; brothers Wendell of Phoenix, Ariz., Donald of Winston and Curtis of Eugene; sisters Ellen Kennel of Port Townsend, Wash., Nadine Alliman, Winston and Arline Kauffman of Colton; 20 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church in Bend.
