Freda Ruth Burchett, 89, died Wednesday peacefully in her sleep.

Ruth was born in Almira, Wash., to Edwin and Leda M. Warren. She lived the majority of her life in Corvallis. She graduated from Corvallis High as valedictorian, and then attended Oregon State University.

She married her high school sweetheart, Mack Burchett, on March 1, 1939, in Kelso, Wash. They had a happy life together.

She enjoyed fishing and hunting with family and friends. She also enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, sewing, knitting and bingo. She was quite lucky. She worked many years, and then retired with the Pacific N.W. Bell.

Ruth is survived by her brothers Frank and Glen Warren; daughter Susan Marnlee; sons William and John Burchett; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mack Burchett; brothers Harold and Don Warren; and sister Elaine Rasmussen.
