Robert L. "Vern" Edney, 86, of Lebanon died Wednesday in Sweet Home.
He was born in Oklahoma, the son of Phillip and Verba (Williams) Edney, and moved to Oregon in 1936. He graduated from Sweet Home High School in 1941 and married Sheila Rhoades in 1942. They lived in Bend and Madras before settling in Lebanon in 1964.
Vern had worked as a union carpenter for the Washington Oregon Carpenters Union. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, reading and spending winters in Arizona.
He is survived by his wife, Sheila, of Lebanon; daughter Phyllis McClary of Sacramento, Calif.; and son Gerald Edney and wife Michelle of Oklahoma City, Okla.
He was preceded in death by his sister, brother and grandson.
At his request there will be no services. Huston-Jost Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
