Rod W. Province, 52, of Redding, Calif., formerly of Albany, died Wednesday of an apparent heart attack at his house.
He was born in Portland to Rod M. and Vivian E. Province. He grew up in Albany, graduating from West Albany High School in 1976.
He worked construction most of his life, living in Hawaii, Washington and Germany before settling in Northern California. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army, where he served from 1977 to 1981 as a chemical weapons specialist.
He is survived by his sister, Jan Province of Bellingham, Wash.; brother Jon Province of Salem; nieces Tian and Lani Province of Salem; father Rod M. Province of Spokane, Wash.; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
A private family service will be at a later date. Allen & Dahl Funeral Home of Redding, Calif., is handling arrangements.
