Samuel Austin Winn, 84, of Brownsville died Friday, July 24, at his home.
Samuel was born to William Coalman and Verna (Butcher) Winn in Centralia, Mo., where he grew up.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
On Dec. 17, 1948, Samuel married Ruby Darlene Maxine Allen in Oregon, Ill., where they lived. They later moved to Brownsville, where Ruby died in 1985.
Samuel married Lois Evans in Brownsville on May 12, 1986. He loved woodworking and building many things for the home. He retired from his job as a millworker in 1987.
He was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses.
Samuel is survived by his wife, Lois of Brownsville; children Charles Hopkins of Modesto, Calif., Janie Sloan of Lebanon, Samuel Winn Jr. of Lebanon, Darwin Winn of Springfield, Lester Winn of Brownsville, Letha Reynolds of Albany and Arlen Winn of Tacoma, Wash.; 26 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; brothers James Winn and William "Bill" Winn, both of Eugene; and sisters Bonetta Dunlap of Missouri and Barbara Dickerson of Washington.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents; wife Ruby; sons Kenneth Winn and Billy Hopkins; grandson Steve Sloan; brother Dale Winn; and sisters Edyth Winn Allen and Rose Winn.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Lebanon Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.
