Paul R. Clark, 69, of Sweet Home died after a 38-year battle with cancer at his home on Sunday.

Paul was born in Brighton, Mass., the son of Thomas and Mary (Powers) Clark. He lived in Massachusetts throughout his childhood, where he attended his schooling.

Paul married Denise M. Myers in Sacred Heart Church in Newton, Mass., on July 4, 1970. In 1976, the couple moved to San Diego, Calif., where they owned and operated a day care business for 28 years. While living in San Diego, Paul served as executive director of San Ysidro Chamber of Commerce, Otay Mesa Planning Board, Kiwanis and ran for mayor of San Diego. He moved to Sweet Home in 1990, where he had resided since.

Paul was an accomplished drummer; had a love of music, especially jazz music; and was a big fan of Frank Sinatra. He enjoyed his dogs and was an avid New York Mets fan.

Paul was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas J. Clark Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Denise of Sweet Home; daughters Christina Clark of San Diego, Calif., and Laura Clark of Sweet Home; son Kurt Clark of Lebanon; and four grandchildren.

A viewing will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Huston-Jost Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Edward's Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the Lebanon I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
