Beverly E. Schmidt, 72, of Albany died Tuesday at The Woods Care Facility in Salem.

She was born Sept. 15, 1936, to Vernon and Fern (McCann) Lange in Mountain Lake, Minn., the oldest of three sisters. Bev graduated from Windom High School in 1954. She worked in a dental office and for the local ASC office in Windom, Minn.

Bev married Leslie Schmidt of Jeffers, Minn., on April 23, 1955, in Windom. They moved to Albany in May 1956. She worked in the office of White Truck Sales and Service of Albany until 1963, then began working at the Albany office of McDonald Wholesale. After its closure, Bev transferred and continued her career with McDonald Wholesale at the Salem office, retiring in 1994.

In 1995 Bev and Les started wintering in Arizona in their motor home. They enjoyed traveling all over the United States together.

Bev had a warm smile and sparkling eyes for everyone she met. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Albany.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Les, of Albany; sons Curt and wife Sue of Salem and Lonnie of Eugene; sister Joan of Las Vegas; two granddaughters in Salem; several grandchildren in Eugene; and several great-grandchildren in Eugene.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and sister Phyllis in 1970.

A gathering of family and friends with a luncheon will be at noon Thursday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Private family graveside services will be held at Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens.
