Randall Allen Buttenhoff, 49, formerly of Sweet Home, passed away Aug. 9 at his home in Olympia, Wash., after a long illness.

Randy was born in Eugene, the son of Darryl and Loretta (Bascom) Buttenhoff. He was raised in Sweet Home and was a graduate of Sweet Home High School.

Randy served in the U.S. Coast Guard. He spent a short time working in plywood mills for Willamette Industries Inc. in Lebanon and Sweet Home, then became an accomplished house painter working in San Francisco and, for the last 19 years, in Olympia.

Randy is survived by Anna, his life partner of 19 years; sons Jayson Marroquin and Joel Marroquin of Olympia; parents Loretta Ward of Sweet Home and Darryl and Shirley Buttenhoff of Bend; brother Mikeal Buttenhoff of Sweet Home; grandmother Betty Bascom of Sweet Home; and Anna's parents, Gene and Monica Beasley of Lebanon.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Fred Bascom, and Dale and Hazel Adkins.

A cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at 937 101st Ave. S.E., Olympia.
