May 16, 1926 - Oct. 1, 2008
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Fisher Funeral Home for Patricia "Pat" Ann Baker, who died on Wednesday.
Patricia was born in Albany, and was the only child of Glenn Calkins Eastman and Alvilda (Blevins) Eastman. On Nov. 16, 1946, Patricia's marriage to Leo LaVere Baker began a long and loving relationship that was blessed with four children and many happy memories. Leo preceded her in death in 1972. The same family farm in which she was born and raised was where she and Leo chose to bring up their own family.
Patricia's giving spirit was evident through caring for her family and through her vocation as a nurse for 25 years at Albany General Hospital. Her abundant garden and many houseplants showed her love of gardening and green thumb. She even tried watermelons and peanuts.
She was an avid reader and an accomplished seamstress. She invested hundreds of hours in sewing, quilting, knitting, crocheting and needlework projects that she generously gave to others.
She was an active member of South Albany Community Church and Oak Creek Thursday Club. She worked at the voting polls during elections.
Although Patricia is in God's loving hands, she will be deeply missed by those she left behind, including her children, Glenn Baker and wife Linda of Albany, Stan Baker and wife Cathy of Albany, Renay Barnes and husband Robb of Dallas, and Lori Larson and husband Dean of Forest Grove. She was an incredible grandmother to 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
The family extends their gratitude to the wonderful staff at Lydia's House and Evergreen Hospice who tenderly cared for Patricia and supported them to the end.
In addition to Monday's funeral service, a viewing will be from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday at Fisher Funeral Home, 306 Washington St. S.W., Albany, OR 97321. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Oakville Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Lydia's House Alzheimer's Care Unit at the Mennonite Home and sent in care of Fisher Funeral Home (www.fisherfuneral
home.com).
