Berit Lynn Winter, 49, lost her battle with oral cancer after a four-year fight.

She was born in Portland to Robert and Joan Nelson.

She was a beloved mother, sister and daughter. There was nobody who wasn't proud to be a part of her life. She showed us all everyday what the true meaning of strength was and how to truly overcome diversity in the challenges we face every day. She will be missed.

Berit is survived by her sons, Gabe Brown, George Winter and Robert Winter; daughters Keeli Brown and Samantha Winter; brothers Gregg and Scott Nelson; sister Cathy Nelson; and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother on July 4; and her beloved dog Dax in June.
