Ronald Wayne Wiles, 56, of Anchorage, Alaska, formerly of Sweet Home, died Jan. 24 at his home of a massive heart attack.
He was born in Lebanon, the son of Mayco and Walter Wiles. He lived in Oregon from 1952 to 1994. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1971. As a corporal in the Marines, Ron received medals for National Defense Service, a letter of appreciation and a rifle expert badge.
He had been a mechanic all his life. His hobbies included hunting, watching NASCAR, scuba diving, seeker of knowledge and boxing.
Ron was a very intelligent man with a wonderful sense of humor. He was very protective and devoted to his family and friends.
Ron is survived by his wife of 33 years, Jerry Lynn Wiles of Anchorage; daughters Ronda Howell of Salem and Virginia Marienthal of Petersburg, Va.; grandchildren Nicole Cooper, Nikolai Allen-Wiles, Winter Angel Christopherson and Devon Howell; mother Mayco Wiles of Sweet Home; and brothers Ralph Wiles of Brookings, and John and Gerald Wiles of Sweet Home.
He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Wiles.
A celebration of life potluck will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Sweet Home VFW hall.
Ronald's cremated remains will be spread at his favorite hunting ground, Table Top.
