Priscilla Jean Buchin, 75, of Albany passed away Monday at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center.

Priscilla was born in Concord, N.H., to Earle and Esther (Erickson) Buchin. She spent four years of her life in Pembroke, N.H., and then Cedar Grove, N.J., Jacksonville, Ala., Duluth, Minn., and Virginia, Minn.

Priscilla earned a Bachelor of Science from Whitworth in 1956, spent some time at the University of Minnesota, St. Paul; completed an internship at Massachusetts General Hospital in 1957; earned an Master of Public Health from University of California, Berkley, in 1961; earned a Master of Christian leadership from Western Seminary, Portland, in 1989; and attended classes at Oregon School of Arts and Crafts in Portland.

She spent most of her working life as a dietitian and public health nutritionist at the following organizations: Kansas University Medical Center for one year; Oregon State Health Division for eight years; American Mission Hospital in Tanta, Egypt, for two years; Dietitian Consulting Service in Portland for five years; Portland Community College for one year; Oregon Heart Association for four years; and Oregon Dairy Council, Oregon Dairy Products Commission, for 10 years.

Priscilla was a member of the American Dietetic Association from 1958 to 1996, serving as president from 1972 to 1973; and a member and deacon at Willamette Community Church in Albany.

Priscilla is survived by her brother, George W. Buchin of Baxter, Minn.; nephews Dan Buchin of Perham, Minn., Jon Buchin of Crosby, Minn., and David Buchin of St. Cloud, Minn.; niece Elizabeth Montgomery of San Jose, Calif.; grandnephews Ben and Tim Buchin; and grandniece Sascha Montgomery

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. today at AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Private burial will be at Sandridge Cemetery.
