David L. Schneider, 46, of Lebanon died Saturday at Samaritan Albany General Hospital.
He was born in Bend. Dave grew up in the Willamette Valley and graduated from Wilson High School in Portland in 1981. He then attended Mount Hood Community College on a track scholarship.
Dave married Donna Hunt on April 23, 1983, in Lebanon. He entered the Army in 1986 and served with the 101st Airborne Division. He was stationed at Fort Campbell and resided in Clarksville, Tenn. After his discharge he returned to Lebanon and served four years in the National Guard.
Dave worked for Portland Public Schools and became a law enforcement officer for the school district for eight years. He then worked locally in the lumber industry, working the last several years at Bauman Lumber.
Dave was active in community sports and played basketball with the Weyerhaeuser Lumber Rats. He had a great sense of humor, loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, gardening and being a grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Donna of Lebanon; children Andrew "AJ" Schneider of Albany and Amber Schneider of Lebanon; grandson Joseph Schneider of Lebanon; parents Phil and Rita Clark of Portland and Mr. and Mrs. Tom Schneider of Lebanon; brother Tom Schneider of Oregon City; twin brother Mark Schneider of Cottage Grove; sisters Chris Wilson of Salem and Debbie Feuborne of Portland; and stepsisters Robin Walker of Bend and Wendy Bernards of Albany.
A viewing will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Wednesday followed by a recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m., both at Huston-Jost Funeral Home. A memorial Mass will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Edward's Catholic Church. Burial will be at the Lebanon IOOF Cemetery.
