Helen Caywood, 90, of Jefferson died Wednesday at her home.
She was born in Sturgeon Bay, Wis., the daughter of George and Anna (Arpke) Hinz.
Helen lived most of her life in the Jefferson area. She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1935 and from Willamette University in 1941.
She worked as a histologist in the lab at Salem Hospital and
Albany General Hospital until retiring. She was a member of the Jefferson United Methodist Church, Jefferson Women's Club, and a member of Eastern Star for 62 years, and was Grand Matron.
Helen was an accomplished artist, who enjoyed cooking, flowers and reading, especially inspirational materials. Her faith and love for her family and friends leave an everlasting testament. Her gentle and positive manner will always be remembered.
Helen is survived by her son, John Caywood and wife Cathy of Jefferson; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and sisters Carol Sanfelippo of Santa Ana, Calif., and Mildred Huibregtse of Sheboygan, Wis.
She was preceded in death by brother George Hinz and sister Marilyn Umstadt.
A visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Fisher Funeral Home. A graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Jefferson Cemetery. A celebration of life will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Jefferson United Methodist Church.
