Donald Lee Anthony, 76, of Ridgefield, Wash., passed away March 13.

He was born in International Falls, Minn., the second son of Ruth and Ed Anthony. He spent his early years in Minnesota and moved to Oregon when he was in grade school.

He graduated from Lebanon High School in 1950 and earned his bachelor's degree in business administration from Oregon State University in 1956. He was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. In 1953 he married Sharon Rhodes of Lebanon. After graduation he served two years in the Army at Fort Hood, Texas, and Fort Ord, Calif.

They lived in Corvallis and Portland before settling in Olympia, Wash., in 1973, residing there until moving to Vancouver, Wash., in 2003. Don spent nearly 40 years in the forest products industry. He traveled the entire Pacific Northwest for many years selling sawmill machinery and making lifelong friends.

Don was a man of great integrity, honesty, compassion and generosity and lived for his family. He was the best grandpa "ever." He loved traveling and fishing, but most of all he loved cruising the San Juan Islands on his boat, "Suntan." He was a charter member of the West Bay Yacht Club in Olympia.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sharon; sons Kevin and wife Kim of Atlanta, Ga., and Bruce and wife Dawn of Vancouver; daughter Diane Hendrix and husband Rob of Ellensburg, Wash.; grandchildren Ryan, Jake, Morgan and Katie Anthony, Megan and husband James Keeling, and Danny and Amber Hendrix; great-grandchildren Ava and Beau; aunt Belva Kiesling of Lebanon; and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Gene and Ray.

A celebration of life will be from 1 to 3 p.m. April 5 at the Vancouver Hilton Hotel, 301 W. Sixth St., Vancouver, Wash. Phone: (360) 993-4500.

Memorial donations may be made to the Lebanon Community Hospital Foundation, P. O. Box 739, Lebanon, OR, 97355, or the Susan G Komen for the Cure, Oregon and S.W. Washington Affiliate, 1400 S.W. Fifth Ave., Suite 530, Portland, OR 97201.
