Stanley J. Lenox, 89, of Lebanon died Tuesday at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center.
Stanley was born in Alberta, Canada, to United States citizen parents Joseph and Edna (House) Lenox. He was reared in Lebanon and graduated from Lebanon High School, where he lettered in boxing and football. He married Ellamae Pitzing on July 4, 1942, in Lebanon.
Stanley served in the Navy during World War II and was stationed in the South Pacific. Following his discharge he lived briefly in Kansas City, Kan., and attended watch-making school. He then returned to Lebanon and started Lenox Trucking with his brother. He also ran Industrial Electric and in 1970 he became a commercial salmon fisherman.
He and his wife enjoyed many years of hunting, fishing and camping throughout Oregon with their mules. They also enjoyed square dancing and fiddle music. Ellamae preceded him in death on Aug. 23, 2007.
Stanley was a member of the Lebanon Masonic Lodge, Lebanon Elks Lodge, the American Legion, Oregon Mister Longears Club, Back Country Horseman and the Old Time Fiddlers Club.
He is survived by his daughters, Joyce Lenox of Scio, Linda Lenox of Salem and Janis Lenox of Fairfield, Calif.; sisters Blythe Cook of Eugene and Beverly Fred of Salem; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Wesley Lenox, and great granddaughter Megan Solberg.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Huston-Jost Funeral Home.
