John Lee Smart, 80, of Blountstown, Fla., formerly of Albany, passed away early Monday morning in Blountstown.
John was born in Harper County, Kan., and had lived in Blountstown since 2006, when he left Albany. He was a retired heavy-equipment operator and was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his wife, Velma Louise (Gebhards) Smart of Blountstown; sons John Hathaway Smart of Sheridan, Boyd Herman Smart of Palm Bay, Fla., Douglas Lee Smart of Corvallis and Eric Dee Smart of Tangent; daughters Pamela Keren Andrews of Vancouver, Wash., and Cathlyn Dell Minyard of Blountstown; brothers Roy of Selma, and Frank and Gene of Roseburg; sister Nadine Ford of Klamath Falls; 19 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
John was preceded in death by his sister, Nevada McMahan.
A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. July 26 at 2958 Roberts Creek Road in Roseburg.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Blountstown Health and Rehab Center in care of John Smart Memorial Fund, 16690 S.W. Chipola Road, Blountstown, FL, 32424. Marlon Peavy at Peavy Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
