Marge Anderson, 76, of Lebanon passed away May 23 at home.

Marge was born in Portland, and then moved to Pendleton at age 2, as the adopted daughter of Raymond and Gertrude Elliott. Marge attended Pendleton High School, graduating in 1950. She then went to the University of Oregon, where she met her husband, Vic. They married in 1953.

Marge and Vic spent many years living in Montana before settling in Lebanon in 1971. She later returned to school at Oregon State University, earning a degree in English literature. She had successful careers in journalism and photography and wrote for a number of newspapers, including the Missoulian, the Whitefish Pilot, the Lebanon Express, and the Salem Capital Journal. Marge was also a well-known watercolor artist and was a member of the Oregon Watercolor Society. Marge was truly passionate about Democratic politics, downhill skiing, flowers, bird watching and cats.

She is survived by her husband, Vic of Lebanon; son Rex and wife Bonnie Anderson of Albany; and grandchildren Chad Anderson of Eugene and Kori Anderson of Corvallis.

Marge was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Gertrude Elliott; brother Richard Elliot; and sons Ralph and Brian Anderson.

Services will be at a later date. Contributions can be made in honor of Marge to Cats Meow of Corvallis or SafeHaven Humane Society in Albany.
