Shirley Rae Miller, 77, of Albany passed away Wednesday after a brief illness.

Shirley was born in Albany to Archibald "Archie" and Kathryn (Davis) Manning. She was a lifelong resident of Albany, having worked in retail in the Albany and Corvallis areas for many years.

On Nov. 12, 1951, Shirley married Wayne Miller.

She was active in the United Presbyterian Church in Albany, serving as a deacon, elder and Sunday school teacher. Shirley was also a member of the Friends of the Albany Public Library. She loved music, her flower garden, grandchildren, friends and family.

Shirley is survived by her husband, Wayne Miller of Albany; children Julie and husband Rich Sipe of Albany, Gary Miller and wife Mary of Auburn, Wash., and Marlene and husband Leo Miller of Seattle; and six grandchildren, Laurie and husband Dave Friedl, Jeff Miller, Anna Muller, Peter Muller, Melissa Sipe and Stephanie Sipe.

She was preceded in death by both of her parents and brother David Manning.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 10, at the United Presbyterian Church.
