Don’t ignore musicians

I read the Albany Democrat-Herald's pages and pages of sports, both district and state competition. I am proud of their accomplishments.

However, nothing is written about all the people involved in music. I only know about West Albany, as my grandsons attend there. Under the direction of Stuart Welsh, the symphonic band placed third at the state competition. This is the highest any Albany band has ever placed.

Also, several students were graded high at the state level. This was shortly after they had accompanied the singers in the stage production of "Bye Bye Birdie," which in itself was very outstanding.

All the practice and study done by hundreds of young people around the state and in our town deserve some public credit too.
