Bravo to Steve and Colleen Anderson for getting out and gathering signatures to help fight the job-killing taxes. We need more people like the Andersons to help collect over 55,000 signatures to place the measure fighting the tax increases on the January ballot.

The tax increases truly are job-killing taxes because, with the tax increases, Oregon becomes number one in personal income tax and tells businesses they are not welcome here.

Many people have the impression that these tax increases are for the rich. What they don't realize is that it is these so-called rich people that are small business owners and provide jobs to many Oregonians. They operate their businesses as sole proprietors, partnerships, LLCs, and sub-S corporations and as such, their business taxes are passed on through their personal tax returns.

For corporations, this tax is essentially a sales tax. The corporations are taxed on sales plus they have a minimum of $150 annual tax due. It does not matter if the corporation made a profit or not, they have a tax due.

When businesses of any size have to spend more money on taxes, that is less jobs they can provide. With the state that runs in the top three of states with the highest unemployment, it is outrageous our legislators would impose higher taxes.
