Lance Armstrong wants to go back into professional road cycling. All anybody can say is good luck.
The Texan won the legendary Tour de France seven times in a row before retiring in 2005. Since then he's competed in other events, taking up running and mountain biking and, above all, campaigning for cancer victims.
Now nearly 37, he announced this week he will make a try for another tour win in 2009.
This is interesting from many standpoints. One is that Armstrong wants to document that he has won and can win again without doping. He has been accused, but he's never tested positive for any banned substance. This time he wants to make sure the public believes him, even hiring a camera crew to document his periodic drug tests and his training.
Armstrong is a driven but personable fellow, well spoken and good in front of a camera. His story already is phenomenal. If he makes his new goal, his vast fame will be vaster still. (hh)
