For those of us seniors on survivor's benefits (Social Security), who were not fortunate enough to retire with an IRA or other secure investments, please ask Mr. Shadle (Mailbag, Nov. 3) if he could live on $1,024/month and $14 in food stamps. This amounts to roughly $4.27 per hour, way below poverty level and/or Oregon's minimum wage.
