WHO'S HOT
Sean Canfield
The running game failed the Beavers but the passing game carried the day. The quarterback threw for 342 yards and two touchdowns, and run for another score.
WHAT'S NOT
Jahvid Best
This has nothing to do with the Cal running back's performance. He suffered a concussion in the second quarter on a touchdown run when he was flipped high in the air and landed on the back of the shoulder. Best was rushed to the hospital.
TURNING POINT
Best's injury
The incident usually rallies the team or takes them out of the game mentally. Neither happened. The Bears stayed focused but without him they didn't have enough to keep up with OSU's offense.
KEY STAT
39
The Golden Bears likes to run the ball. When the Beavers held them to 39 yards rushing that took them out of their game and allowed the OSU defense to control the game.
TRENDS
The Beavers have a knack for playing well in Berkeley in the last decade. After Saturday's victory they have won five straight in Memorial Coliseum. The last time they lost was in 1997.
BIG GAME
TE Joe Halahuni had another big game as a receiver. He caught six passes for a career-best 128 yards. It was his second 100-yard receiving game. He added 14 kickoff return yards for 142 all-purpose to the lead the Beavers in that category.
QUIZZ STATS
• Sophomore RB Jacquizz Rodgers moved into fifth place in OSU's career rushing list with 2,242 yards. Next up in fourth is Dave Schilling (1969-71) with 2,552.
• Rodgers has scored 26 career rushing touchdowns to move into sole possession of fourth place on OSU's career list. Next up in third is Yvenson Bernard (2004-07) with 38.
• He has scored 15 rushing touchdowns this season, which ties him for fifth most in OSU history for a single season with Steven Jackson (2002).
JAMES STATS
• Junior wide receiver James Rodgers moved into sixth place in OSU career receptions with 139. Reggie Bynum (1982-85) is next with in fifth with 149.
• He moved into a tie for ninth place for receiving touchdowns with Jeff Kolberg (1969-71) with 11.
• Rodgers moved into a tie for eighth place on OSU's list for single-season receptions at 69 with Vern Burke (1962).
• He moved into fourth place for career all-purpose yards at OSU with 4,368. Jackson (2001-03) is third with 4,545.
RECRUITING
Lakes Oswego High football player Will Storey committed to Oregon State. He's a 6-foot-2, 210-pound quarterback but is expected to play linebacker or safety. His family has ties to OSU, so he committed soon after receiving an offer. This is OSU's 10th verbal commitments for the 2010 class.
QUICK HITS
• Senior QB Sean Canfield moved into fourth place in OSU career passing touchdowns with 30.
• Senior OG Gregg Peat became OSU's active leader for career starts with 24.
• The Beavers have won seven of the last 13 games against ranked opponents.
• There were several first-time starters with DE Gabe Miller, DE Matt LaGrone and WR Markus Wheaton.
