PROVO, Utah - Oregon suffered its first loss of the young season on Friday afternoon with a 67-45 stumble at BYU.
The Ducks (2-1) offense sputtered, shooting just 25 percent (13-of-52) from the floor, and turning the ball over 21 times.
On the other end of the court, the Cougars (2-1) shot 43.3 percent (29-of-67) and were led by senior guard Shawnee Slade's 17 points. Sarah Hostetter also added 13 points off the bench on a 6-of-9 shooting performance.
BYU took 67 shots compared to Oregon's 52, mainly because of the Ducks turnovers and the Cougars 13 offensive rebounds. Cassie King of BYU had a game-high 10 rebounds, five on the offensive end.
Limited to five players on its bench with the absence of injured guards Taylor Lilley and Rita Kollo, Oregon's reserves were outscored 31-8 by the Cougars' bench.
Oregon was led by sophomore Ellie Manou and freshman Amanda Johnson, who scored 10 points each. Johnson also led the Ducks with eight rebounds.
Oregon plays at South Dakota State on Sunday.

NORMAN, Okla. - Courtney Paris had 19 points, 20 rebounds and six blocked shots as Oklahoma defeated Arizona State in the semifinals of the Preseason Women's NIT.
Oklahoma (3-0) will host No. 4 North Carolina on Sunday for the NIT title.
Dymond Simon scored 14 points for Arizona State, while Briann January and Lauren Lacey had 12 each.

BERKELEY, Calif. - Alexis Gray-Lawson hustled all over the court on the way to 25 points, nine rebounds and four assists and California pulled off the biggest home victory of fourth-year coach Joanne Boyle's tenure with an upset of Rutgers.
Ashley Walker added 16 points and 10 rebounds as the Golden Bears (3-0) won their 32nd straight non-conference game in Haas Pavilion, pushing the tempo for the entire 40 minutes against the sluggish Scarlet Knights (2-1).
