ROSEVILLE, Calif. n Behind victories in the 400 yard free relay and the 1650 yard free, the Oregon State swim team holds the lead at the University of Pacific's TYR Invitational at Roseville, Calif., after one day. The Beavers accumulated 349.50 points on Friday, which leads second-place Nevada, which finished the first day with 323.50 points.
Third-place Pacific, which is hosting the meet, has 302 points, followed by No. 4 UC-Davis at 249 points. The meet will finish today.
The Oregon State women took the 400 yard free relay with a time of 3:31.27. The relay team consisted of Saori Haruguchi, Kayla Rawlings, Anna Crandall and Lisa Chewning. The victory picked up 40 points based on the scoring system, which awarded each of the 14 teams who competed in the event.
Brittney Iverson gave Oregon State 20 more points with the victory in the 1,650 -yard free. She finished the event with a time of 17:09.47.
Women's soccer
Arizona 1, OSU 0 (2OT)
London King's goal in the 108th minute gave visiting Arizona the double overtime victory over Oregon State on Friday night.
The loss drops Oregon State to 7-6-1, 0-3-0 in Pac-10 play, while Arizona moves to 6-8-0, 1-2-0 in league play, with the win.
After the two squads battled through a scoreless regulation and first overtime, King gave the Wildcats the win in the 108th minute as she took a cross from Jacqueline Broussard and put it into the empty net for the only tally of the match.
Oregon State will return to action on Sunday against Arizona State.
Men's soccer
UCLA 4, OSU 1
With the score tied heading into halftime, UCLA exploded for three second-half goals.
Oregon State falls to 4-8-0 overall, 1-3-0 in Pac-10 play, as UCLA improved to 6-5-2, 2-1-1 in league play, with the win.
Oregon State hosts San Diego State in Pac-10 action on Sunday.
