EUGENE (AP) - The Ducks ran away with their latest victory.

Oregon ran for 316 yards in a 34-14 victory over Northwest rival Washington on Saturday. Just as importantly, the Ducks held the Huskies to 13 yards on the ground.

Ranked No. 24 before the game, Oregon moved up to 21st in advance of Saturday's game against No. 7 USC at Memorial Coliseum.

Going into the game, Oregon ranked atop the Pac-10 in rushing offense, but was ninth out of the 10 teams in run defense.

Jonathan Stewart did his part for the offense, despite chronically sore ankles and sore ribs leftover from the previous week's win against Portland State.

Stewart had a career-high 25 carries for 159 yards to bring his total this season to 798 yards this season, surpassing Terrence Whitehead's total of 679 yards last season.

"I've been pressing through a lot of stuff,'' Stewart said. "Now I'm starting to break through.''

Stewart has had five 100-yard rushing games on the season, and the Ducks are

5-0 in those games.

"The last two weeks we made some minor adjustments to our running game, and it's paying tremendous dividends,'' coach Mike Bellotti said.

Oregon's 316 rushing yards were the most the Ducks have ever gained against the Huskies, the best since they ran for 285 yards against the Huskies in 1980.

"They spread us out and ran the ball up the gut. That was their bread and butter. They kept getting us out of position.'' Washington cornerback Roy Lewis said.

This was Oregon's second 300-yard rushing game of the season. The Ducks tallied 315 at Arizona State. The 316 yards was the most since the Ducks gained a school-record 446 yards on the ground at Washington State on Oct. 27, 2001.

Dennis Dixon completed 14 of 25 passes for 109 yards for the Ducks, but the Huskies (4-6, 2-5) capitalized on his two interceptions for their only scores.

Dixon has not thrown for more than 150 yards in four straight weeks going into the game against the Trojans.
