Softball: Third-ranked Bears edge No. 10 OSU

Kelly Anderson stopped the Beavers with a five-hitter Monday as third-ranked California edged No. 10 Oregon State 2-1 in a Pac-10 softball game.

Despite the loss, the Beavers (29-8, 8-2) remain in sole possession of first place conference. Oregon State has played 10 consecutive games against teams ranked in the top 25, going 8-2 in that stretch.

Cal (39-6, 6-3) scored both its runs in the third inning on Vicky Galindo's home run off Brianne McGowan (25-4). Oregon State answered with a run in the bottom half of the third with Adrienne Alo's 11th home run of the year.
