The Spartan Booster Club will hold a special sports dessert tonight to honor the 5A state champion football team from Corvallis High.
The event will begin at 7 p.m. in the CHS cafeteria and the club asks that those attending bring a dessert to serve 4-6 people.
The dessert is open to anyone connected to the team and other community members.
Corvallis defeated West Albany 17-14 in triple overtime on Dec. 9 to win the title. The game is the longest in state championship history.
Trebon wins title
Former Corvallis resident Ryan Trebon won the Elite Men's National Cyclocross Championship on Saturday at the US National Cyclocross Championships in Providence, R.I. He placed second in 2004 and 2005.
Corvallis High graduate Barry Wicks finished sixth in the same race. CHS sophomore Ryan Miller placed 10th in the Jr 15-16 National Championship race.
Four CAT swimmers take first
Four Corvallis Aquatic Team swimmers claimed first-place finishes at the CAT Senior Open last Friday through Sunday at the Osborn Aquatic Center.
The short-course meet attracted 257 athletes from 22 Oregon swimming clubs, including 33 CAT swimmers.
Logan Storie paced the boys with four first-place finishes: the 1,650 free with a Junior National qualifying time of 15:40.28; the 200 individual medley; 400 IM; and 200 free (1:41.35).
Sean Sweet won the 200-yard fly and was second in the 1,650 free.
On the girls side, Mailene Leslie won the 500 free and the 200 free.
The other first-place CAT winner was Sloan Storie in the 1,650 free.
