SPOKANE, Wash. - The Corvallis Knights outhit the Spokane RiverHawks 9-5, but dropped a 5-2 West Coast Collegiate Baseball League decision on Wednesday night.
Spokane, coming off a
14-0 win on Tuesday, won the series 2-1.
Corvallis falls to 7-5 while Spokane improves to 5-7. Spokane had dropped five straight before Tuesday's win.
While the Knights had nine hits, only four players recorded them, with Davis Duren collecting three and Doug Cherry, Adam Melker and Dean Green two each.
The Knights trailed 3-2 in the top of the eighth when Green's deep drive to center was caught at the fence.
Spokane tacked on two runs in the bottom of the eighth to provide a cushion.
Spokane took a 2-0 lead after the second inning before the Knights tied it in the fourth on a passed ball and a sacrifice fly by Green.
Corvallis travels to Moses Lake for a three-game series beginning at 7:30 p.m. today.
