Albany team places third at tournament
The Senior Federal Bulldogs played in a BPA World Series qualifier tournament in Redding, California over Memorial Day weekend.
They played teams from Praire and Camas, Wash., North Bay, Calif., and Sellwood to place third in the Tournament and earn a berth to the BPA Western World Series in San Diego in August.
The team is made up of Jack Ruckert, Tanner Hall, Taylor Burner, Cody James, Garrett Miller, Nick Lebengood, Harry Reid, Jesse Trader, Jacob Stitzel, Branden Myers, Riley Jarret and Robby Wentland. Coaches are Scott Lebengood, Mike Burner and Travis Stitzel.
OSU's Mitch Canham receives honor
Oregon State catcher Mitch Canham received third-team Louisville Slugger All-America honors on Wednesday. The team was selected by the staff of Collegiate Baseball newspaper.
A junior, he is batting .346 with nine home runs, one triple, 13 doubles and 53 RBIs heading into the NCAA Charlottesville Regional.
Canham is the 19th player in school history to earn All-America honors and the sixth in the past three seasons, joining pitcher Dallas Buck (2005-06), outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury (2005), outfielder Cole Gillespie (2006), pitcher Kevin Gunderson (2006) and pitcher Jonah Nickerson (2005-06).
