Wrestler competes at regional meet

Hayden Kloss, a West Albany High School sophomore wrestler, competed last week in the Western Regional Wrestling Tournament in Pocatello Idaho. Top competitors from 11 western states were in attendance.

Kloss competed in the Cadet age group, 15-16 years old at the 189-pound weight class. Competing in three different styles of wrestling, he placed sixth in freestyle, third in Greco, and fourth in folk style.

Holes-in-one

Salem resident Steve Bourne hit a hole-in-one Saturday at Spring Hill Country Club.

The ace, his first in 20 years of golfing, was struck on the 155-yard third hole with an 8-iron.

The shot was witnessed by Fred Bourne of Woodburn, John Grimm of Dundee, and Gary Owens of Dayton.

Corvallis resident Juntae Kim of Corvallis hit a hole-in-one Friday at Spring Hill Country Club.

The ace, Kim's second in seven years of golfing, was hit on the 155-yard eighth hole with a 7-iron.

The shot was witnessed by Kyeonah Yu and Justin Kim of Corvallis, both of Corvallis.

Blazers to host

draft party

The Portland Trail Blazers are hosting a free draft night event at the Rose Garden Thursday. where fans can watch the 2008 NBA draft. Doors open at 3 p.m. and concessions will be sold.

Fans can join Mike Barrett, Mike Rice and Antonio Harvey on the Lexus Club Level, where they will host a live edition of Courtside from 4-7 p.m. The broadcast will feature live reports from Brian Wheeler at the Trail Blazers "war room."
