Six mid-valley football teams play state playoff games this Friday or Saturday. Here is a look at those contests.
5A
No. 6 Glencoe at Lebanon
Records: Glencoe 8-2, 4-2 Northwest Oregon Conference; Lebanon 5-5, 4-3 Mid-Willamette Conference
Lebanon has bounced back from three straight losses with two wins that clinched the Mid-Willamette's third seed.
The Warriors will have their hands full.
Glencoe's only losses are to No. 1 Hillsboro (26-22 on a last-second 61-yard pass) and No. 3 Sherwood (62-6).
Glencoe got past Corvallis (34-7) and seventh-ranked Crescent Valley (21-19).
The two teams have three common opponents, with Century joining Corvallis and Crescent Valley. Glencoe has the advantage at a plus-51.
4A
La Grande at Sweet Home
When: 7 p.m. Friday
Records: La Grande 2-7, 1-2 Greater Oregon League; Sweet Home 7-3, 3-1 Val-Co League
Eastern Oregon teams are often the great unknown because they rarely play teams in western Oregon before conference play.
La Grande fits that mold, having not played any team west of Madras.
Sweet Home, which has no common opponents with La Grande, has lost two straight after winning three consecutive league games to wrap up the second seed.
3A
Sheridan at Santiam Christian
Location: Corvallis High School
When: 7 p.m. Friday
Records: Sheridan 6-3, 3-3 West Valley League; Santiam Christian 9-1, 6-0 PacWest Conference
Santiam Christian has looked strong since its 28-14 home loss to Dayton in week three.
Sheridan finished only .500 in the West Valley, but the Spartans carry an impressive resume, including wins against Creswell (47-26) and Dayton (26-13).
Jefferson at Vale
When: noon Saturday (1 p.m. Mountain time)
Records: Jefferson 3-7, 3-3 PacWest; Vale 6-3, 5-0 Eastern Oregon League
As it turned out, Jefferson had its playoff spot wrapped up with a forfeit win against Regis on Oct. 8.
Vale allowed 25 total points in five league games. The Vikings have three losses, but those defeats are to Homeland, Idaho (34-27) and two 4A playoff teams, Ontario (41-13) and Baker (35-34).
2A
Nestucca at Central Linn
When: 7 p.m. Friday
Records: Nestucca 5-4, 3-2 Northwest League; Central Linn 6-4, 6-1 Mountain View Conference
Central Linn had a surprising loss to Oakridge two weeks ago but then won the league title with a win against Monroe.
Nestucca lost to top-ranked and defending champion Knappa 28-18 on Oct. 30.
Stanfield at Scio
When: 1 p.m. Saturday
Records: Stanfield 7-2, 5-2 Blue Mountain Conference; Scio 10-0, 5-0 Tri-River Conference
Scio has allowed more than eight points just once this season, and that came after Blanchet scored on the final play of the game against the Loggers' reserves.
Stanfield has won four of its last five games, averaging more than 53 points in that stretch.
