West Albany solidified its spot atop the Mid-Willamette Conference standings and the 5A state rankings with a 69-0 end-of-
season blowout over Woodburn.
"The young guys had a lot of fun tonight," said West Albany assistant Rich Engel.
Kicker Tyler George got plenty of work, as he kicked seven extra points, nailing six in a row before finally missing on his last attempt.
In all, West Albany had eight different players score a touchdown against the overmatched Woodburn defense.
The Bulldogs posted seven offensive touchdowns. Drew Pigg added a 35-yard interception return for a score.
Anthony LaCoste and Matt McHenry scored two touchdowns apiece for West Albany.
West Albany was already playing its backups before halftime, with the score
at 55-0.
West Albany (10-0, 7-0) has a bye in the first round of the playoffs. The Bulldogs will play the winner of a first-round game between the fourth seed from the Intermountain Conference and Wilsonville, the third seed from the Northwest Oregon Conference. That game will be played on Albany on Nov 16 or 17.
