The Bulldogs beat their former league rival (current 6A competitor) the South Salem Saxons convincingly on their own floor to establish that when these girls have their game, they are going to be a tough ticket.
West Albany won 59, South Salem 38.
The Bulldogs jumped out to the first-quarter lead by scoring nineteen points.
The Saxons never got back into it.
"[South Salem has] always been a tough place to play," said Bulldogs coach Craig Swanson. "We got up quickly in the first quarter."
Brooke Lepman had a strong all-around game, garnering eleven points, seven rebounds, three assists and four steals.
Mattea Williams led the Bulldogs with her 14 points. She also contributed three assists.

The Warriors picked up their first win of the season behind Alexis Nissen's
25-point performance.
A strong 18-point first quarter that saw all five starters contribute, and some solid second-half defense did the job for Lebanon. The Warriors held the Celtics to 13 second-half points.
Nissen got most of her points under the basket as the Warriors created opportunities inside. Bekah Johnson provided solid support with a double-double, getting 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Lebanon (1-2) travels to the Ashland Tournament on Friday where they will open with Summit.

Tara Cowley had 12 points and eight rebounds for the Rebels in a loss to the visiting Spartans.
Hillsboro led 14-11 after the first quarter and 34-23 at the half. But the Spartans blew the game open with a 21-9 advantage in the third quarter.
South Albany (0-3) plays at Willamette on Thursday in Eugene.

A slow start in the first quarter and then again at the opening of the second half proved too much for the Eagles, who were playing their season opener.
Portland Christian, with three games under its belt, broke open the one-point game with a 17-point third quarter.
Abby Olson and Tayla Woods each scored 12 points for Santiam Christian. Woods also had six rebounds and six assists.
Santiam Christian (0-1) is at home on Friday hosting its own tournament.

The Eagles remained unbeaten with the win as Erica Traw scored 15 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
Harrisburg took a quick lead with an 18-point first quarter as Caitlyn Francalancia scored eight of her 10 points in the opener period. Francalancia also had four steals and three assists for Harrisburg.
The Eagles (4-0) are at home hosting their own tournament beginning Friday. Harrisburg opens the tournament at 6 p.m. against Reedsport. The second game will match Warrenton against Heppner.

Richan Modderman scored 20 points to lead the Cobras over visiting Monroe.
Ellen Calderon added 14 points for Central Linn, which is 1-0 in the Mountain View Conference and 2-1 overall.
Central Linn coach Stan Talbott said Monroe did a good job defensively and that Modderman and Calderon did a good job picking up the offense.

The Falcons of Fairview Christian had a tough time with the Mapleton Sailors. The girls never found a groove, but they never lacked for trying.
"The Fairview girls played very hard the entire game," said Sailors coach Pat Wundra.
The Falcons fell behind in the first quarter and could never get back into the game.
Candice Miller almost tallied a double-double with nine points and seven rebounds for the Falcons.
Tessa Spurk led the host Sailors with 19 points.
Fairview Christian hosts Lowell on Friday. Mapleton visits Eddyville.
