Crescent Valley 9, West Albany 8

A two-out, three-run home run by Crescent Valley's Thomas McCarthy in the seventh inning Wednesday gave the Raiders a 9-8 victory over West Albany.

It was the Bulldogs' first loss of the Mid-Willamette Conference season.

McCarthy's blast came after a passed ball on a third strike that would have given the Bulldogs the win kept the inning alive.

"Those things happen. I give CV credit. They kept comin' at us," said West Albany coach Don Lien.

It was the Bulldogs who came back first. Trailing

1-0, West exploded for five runs in the fifth. CV responded immediately with its own five-run rally in the sixth.

West got three more in its half of the sixth, but McCarthy's shot gave the Raiders the lead for good.

It was a hitfest for both teams. CV finished with 13 hits and West had 14.

Six West Albany players had two hits, including Tyler Spevacek and Nick Irving, who both doubled.

West Albany (6-4, 4-1) meets the Raiders again on Friday at CV.

Dallas 6, South Albany 2

The Dragons picked up a second straight win in the Mid-Willamette Conference contest on the Rebel field.

T. J. Fox and Tim Hurd combined for six of the seven Rebel hits in the game as they both were 3 for 3. Bo Belcher got the only other South Albany safety.

The game was close most of the way but a three-run sixth gave Dallas a comfortable lead. Five South Albany errors aided the Dragon cause.

The two teams meet again on Friday at Dallas. South Albany drops to 4-4 overall and 3-2 in league play.

Corvallis 15, Lebanon 4

The Spartans' offense continues to be red-hot, amassing 15 runs on 14 hits against the visiting Warriors.

Lebanon's Taylor Bitterman had two hits, including a double, and he drove in one of the Warriors' runs.

Lebanon (1-7, 0-5 MWC) will host Corvallis in the series finale on Friday.

A five-run fifth inning powered the Eagles over Pleasant Hill in the non-league game at Santiam Christian.

The Eagles put together six hits in the inning and took the lead for good.

The big inning helped Tyler Stitzel pick up his second win of the season as he scattered seven hits, struck out four and didn't walk a batter in going the distance.

Santiam Christian banged out 13 hits on the day, three by Jake Wonsley and two each by Wade Knowles, Michael Parkhurst and Conner Schehen.

2-0), is back in action in the PacWest Conference today at home against Waldport.

Alsea 11, Central Linn 6

The Cobras jumped out to the early lead, scoring once in the top of the first, but Alsea effectively put the game away with eight runs in the bottom of the inning.
