Brianna Wanner stroked an RBI single in the bottom of the eighth to give Jefferson's softball team a 13-12 season-opening win on its home field.
Jefferson survived a nine-run first inning by the Warriors with strong relief pitching from Brianna Looney, who came on in the second inning.
Looney limited North Douglas to just three runs the rest of the way. In the meantime, she aided a potent offense that had 14 hits.
Looney had three of those hits, including a double and triple, and the Lions got a big lift from Hailey Baker, who drilled a grand slam in the fourth inning.
Jessica Brunk also had three hits for the winners and Jamie Yzaguirre had two.
