It's a busy and decisive week in the Democrat-Herald coverage area.
Three teams are playing for league titles and another is just playing to get into the state playoffs.
Seven of the nine schools that play football have qualified for the state playoffs. South Albany can make it eight with a win against Corvallis.
No. 2 West Albany at No. 6 Crescent Valley
Records: West Albany 8-1, 6-0 5A Mid-Willamette; Crescent Valley 8-1, 6-0
West has won its three previous league titles without it coming down to the final week of the regular season, but not this time around.
CV has three league wins by a total of six points. West defeated those three teams by a combined 48.
West senior running back Anthony LaCoste looks to be back to close to 100 percent. Expect another big night for him.
Corvallis at South Albany
Records: Corvallis 3-6, 3-3 Mid-Willamette Conference; South Albany 4-5, 3-3
It's an elimination game, with the winner in the 5A state playoffs and the loser done for the season.
Whether the winner is the conference's third or fourth seed depends on Lebanon's outcome against Dallas.
South lost 16-11 at Corvallis in the final regular season game last year, with the Spartans taking the third seed and the Rebels the fourth.
Lebanon at Dallas
Records: Lebanon 4-5, 3-3 Mid-Willamette; Dallas 2-6, 2-4
Based on its wins against Corvallis and South Albany, Lebanon has qualified for the state playoffs regardless of the outcome of this one.
But a win give the Warriors the third seed and allows them to host their first playoff game. A loss puts Lebanon in fourth, giving the Warriors a road game.
No. 7 Sweet Home at Junction City
Records: Sweet Home 7-2, 3-1 4A Val-Co League; Junction City 4-5, 4-2 4A Sky-Em League
The Huskies finish their regular season with a nonleague game against another 4A state playoff team.
Junction City has played two Val-Co teams, losing 14-11 to Newport and 49-0 to No. 2 Central.
Jefferson at No. 9 Sheridan
Records: Jefferson 3-6, 3-3 3A PacWest Conference; Sheridan 5-3, 3-3 West Valley League
The Lions get ready for the state playoffs with a nonleague game against a solid opponent.
Sheridan has a win against No. 10 Dayton, a league opponent. Two of the Spartans' three losses are to ranked teams.
No. 4 Santiam Christian at Regis
Location: Stayton
Records: Santiam Christian 8-1, 5-0 PacWest; Regis 2-7, 2-3
This looked at the beginning of the season to potentially be a big game, as it has been in years past.
But Regis has taken a step back while the Eagles continue a strong tradition.
Creswell at Harrisburg
Records: Creswell 3-6, 3-2 PacWest, Harrisburg 2-5, 1-4
Harrisburg finishes its season with a tough game against a playoff team.
No. 9 Monroe at Central Linn
Records: Monroe 6-2, 5-1 2A Mountain View Conference; Central Linn 5-4, 5-1
Central Linn had an unexpected stumble last week against Oakridge.
But the Cobras can still claim the conference title with a win. A loss could push them all the way to the fourth seed for the state playoffs.
Monroe could likely only finish as the second seed with a win because of a loss to No. 6 North Douglas
(8-1, 5-1). Central Linn defeated North Douglas.
No. 7 Santiam at No. 2 Scio
Records: Santiam 7-1, 3-1; Scio 9-0, 4-0
This looked like a lot better matchup before No. 4 Kennedy beat Santiam 40-7 last week. Scio got past Kennedy 14-7 earlier in the season.
An unlikely Scio loss could create a three-day tie for the league title.
